Astoria Consulting organizes educational conferences for the financial investors and pension investors in Tokyo since 2001. The flagship event which is organized by us is called Astoria Private Equity Investment Forum. It is organized twice in a year―every spring and fall. Hal Morimoto, Managing Director, Founder
Hal is the Managing Director and a founder of the company. He currently works out of Tokyo and New York.
He has founded Astoria Consulting Group, LLC in 2000 to promote and raise awareness of best practices in private equity investment in Japan
Hal produces and organizes Astoria Private Equity Investment Forum, a bi-annual educational forum on private equity investment for the institutional investor community of Japan. In 2003, he helped organize Limited Partners Work Group (LPWG) for institutional investors in Japan.
Hal also lectures on entrepreneurship and business strategy development classes at SBI University since 2008. Prior to this, he had lectured for Kenichi Ohmae's Attackers Business School. He was appointed Tokyo Coordinator for Program on Alternative Investments at the Center on Japanese Economy and Business by Columbia Business School in 2003 to 2007.
Hal has authored three books: "Using PowerPoint / Microsoft Word － Writing a Simple and Effective Business Plan and Acquiring Presentation Skills in 3 Hours" (Asuka Press, 2003); "Kenichi Ohmae's Attackers Business School Part V" (co-authored with Kenichi Ohmae; President Press, 2003); "Successful Corporate Venturing" (JMAR Press, 2005); "Corporate Venture Success Seminar" (Goma Books, 2006). Hal was involved with a research project on "Current State of Private Equity Fund Investment By Institutional Investors In Japan" which was commission by The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in 2004.

The primary mission of the Astoria PE Investment Forum (APEF) is to raise awareness of best practices in private equity investment in Japan, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the flow of risk capital from institutional investors to innovative businesses through the use of private equity funds.
